Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 12, 2026

1. Overview
Orbiary (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is a personal journaling app that lets you create entries using text, photos, and audio. Protecting your privacy is a core part of the app’s design. This Privacy Policy explains what data stays on your device, what limited data is processed by our service providers, and the choices you have.

2. Data You Create (Stored Locally)
All personal content you create in the app — including notes, photos, audio recordings, attachments, tags, and emotional entries — is stored locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store this content on external servers, and it is never shared with our analytics or advertising providers.

If you choose to export, share, or back up your content using the operating system’s native features (e.g. Files, iCloud Drive, Google Drive, share sheet), that content leaves the app under your control and is governed by the receiving service’s own terms.

3. Data We Collect
We collect a limited amount of non-personal data to keep the app stable and to understand how features are used:

• Usage & product analytics: anonymous events such as screen views, feature interactions, and aggregate session data, processed via Firebase Analytics and Firebase Remote Config.
• Diagnostics & crash data: crash reports, stack traces, device model, OS version and similar technical information, processed via Firebase Crashlytics.
• Advertising data (only when ads are shown): a limited set of technical signals required to deliver and measure ads, processed by our advertising partners. See Section 4 for details.
• Purchase data: when you buy a subscription or one-time product, the transaction is processed entirely by the App Store or Google Play. We receive only the technical receipt needed to unlock the corresponding feature; we do not see your payment method or billing details.

This data is not linked to your identity, does not contain your personal journal content, and is used only to operate, secure and improve the app.

4. Advertising, Advertising Identifier and Tracking
The free version of Orbiary may show ads provided by third-party advertising networks and mediation partners. To deliver and measure these ads, those partners may process your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, Android Advertising ID on Android), coarse technical information (device type, OS, language, approximate region), and ad-interaction events (impressions, clicks). The specific networks involved may change over time as we add or remove partners; in all cases they act under contractual obligations that limit their use of this data to ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, and similar advertising purposes.

• iOS — App Tracking Transparency (ATT): on devices where ATT applies, we show Apple’s system prompt before any tracking that uses the IDFA across apps and websites. If you choose “Ask App Not to Track”, the IDFA is not made available, ads are served in a non-personalized mode, and no cross-app/website tracking is performed by us or by our advertising partners on our behalf.
• Android: you can reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, from your device’s Google settings. When opted out, ads are served in a non-personalized mode.
• Subscribers: when an active subscription removes ads, no advertising identifier or ad-related signals are collected through the app.

We do not build advertising profiles ourselves, do not link ad data to your journal content, and do not sell your data.

5. Service Providers
We rely on the following categories of providers to deliver the functionality described above. They act as our processors and may process the data listed under Section 3 on our behalf, in accordance with their own privacy and security policies:

• Analytics & diagnostics: Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config) — usage analytics, crash diagnostics, and remote configuration.
• Advertising: third-party advertising networks and mediation partners — ad delivery and measurement (free version only). The set of partners may change over time.
• Payments: Apple App Store and Google Play — in-app purchase processing and subscription management.

These providers receive only the limited data they need to perform their service. They do not receive your journal entries, photos, or audio recordings.

6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Anonymous technical and advertising data may be processed by the service providers listed in Section 5 solely to operate, secure, and improve the app. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or integrity of our users or the app.

7. Data Security
Because your personal content is stored locally on your device, you are responsible for maintaining the security of the device itself and of any backups you create through the operating system. Data exchanged with our service providers is transmitted over encrypted connections.

8. Your Choices
You can control what is collected:

• Disable analytics & crash reporting: turn off “Share analytics” / diagnostics in your device’s system settings where applicable.
• Limit ad tracking (iOS): respond “Ask App Not to Track” to the ATT prompt, or change the choice later in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. You can also enable “Limit Ad Tracking” system-wide.
• Limit ad tracking (Android): reset or delete the Advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, from your Google account/device settings.
• Remove ads entirely: subscribe to the paid plan, which disables ads and the related advertising identifier processing inside the app.
• Stop all data collection: uninstall the app. Locally stored journal content is deleted with the app.

9. Children’s Privacy
The app is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app means you accept the updated version.
